While he was under a lot of scrutiny following a high-profile arrival from Spanish outfit Athletic Bilbao, Herrera has become a central part of the Man Utd team over recent seasons.
In his four seasons since becoming a 'Red Devil', the energetic midfielder has played at 30 games per season in all competitions which shows his reliabilty and consistency of performance.
Speaking to the club's website on his 29th birthday on Tuesday, Herrera expressed how happy he is at United.
"when you play for Manchester United, you have to deserve, every season, to keep playing for the club." the Spanish international said.
"I have been able to win trophies for the club, I have been able to play more than 160 games right now, so what I have in my mind is to go for the 200 games and keep adding games for the club and for myself."
The only way he will be able to 'keep adding games' will be to sign a new contract at the club, which could be hard to do as there is competition from the likes of Andreas Perreira, Marouane Fellaini and Fred for a slot in midfielder alongside Paul Pogba.
