Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone completed his side's preparations for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City on Wednesday with an activation session, announcing a 21-man squad that confirmed the injury absentees of both Jose Maria Gimenez and Hector Herrera, the only two absentees from the list.
The Uruguayan centre-back misses his third consecutive game, due to the muscular discomfort suffered a week and a half ago against Alavés, while the Mexican midfielder is out for the fourth game in a row, due to the thigh injury suffered a fortnight ago that has sidelined him successively from the games against Alavés, the first leg against Manchester City and against Mallorca, as well as this Wednesday's game.
The rest of the first team (goalkeepers Jan Oblak and Benjamin Lecomte; defenders Renan Lodi, Stefan Savic, Daniel Wass, Felipe Monteiro, Mario Hermoso, Reinildo Mandava and Sime Vrsaljko; midfielders Geoffrey Kondogbia, Rodrigo de Paul, Koke Resurreccion, Thomas Lemar and Marcos Llorente; winger Yannick Carrasco; and forwards Antoine Griezmann, Matheus Cunha, Joao Felix, Angel Correa and Luis Suarez) plus homegrown Javi Serrano make up the 21-man squad.
The team is now staying in a hotel very close to the Wanda Metropolitano stadium until the match.
