After 72 minutes, Marius Wols lunged in on a tackle from behind on James Rodriguez. Referee Harm Osmers brandished his red card before being surrounded by Eintracht players. Wolf was dismissed.
However, the referee decided to make use of VAR, going back on his decision when the player was already on his way to the dressing room.
The official himself went to get the player, showing him a yellow card instead. The match ended with 22 players on the pitch.
