Real Madrid won when Elche and Real Madrid met recently, but it was hard fought. 'Los Blancos' had to fight back at the Martinez Valero.
In the Copa del Rey last 16 game, Carlo Ancelotti started Eden Hazard on the bench. The Italian went for Vinicius, Jovic and Rodrygo.
The game ended 0-0 after 90 minutes which meant there was extra-time. That is when Ancelotti decided to bring on Eden Hazard and it certainly did the trick.
Hazard came on at the start of extra-time for Rodrygo. The game changed from that moment onwards. Gonzalo Verdu put Elche ahead in the 103rd minute after Marcelo saw red for Madrid, but Isco soon levelled the scores and Eden Hazard then scored the winner.
The game ended 1-2 and Ancelotti was pleased with what he saw. So much so that, according to 'AS', this Sunday he could start the match versus Elche. The coach will be without Asensio so Hazard has a chance of starting. He will have to compete for a spot with Rodrygo, just like in the cup game on Thursday.
In the cup tie, Rodrygo was preferred to the Belgian, but Hazard showed in extra-time that he can be decisive when the team need him. The decision is in the hands of Ancelotti.
