Hasenhuttl issued an apology in the media to Arsenal boss Unai Emery, after he forgot to shake the hand of the opposing manager, in the aftermath of Southampton's shock win at St Mary's.
The victory signified a maiden win for the new 'Saints' boss, as well as a first home win of the season for the team.
At full-time, the Austrian manager ran onto the field of play to congratulate his players on a hard fought win, but in doing so, neglected his duties in shaking the hand of the visiting manager.
Hasenhuttl told 'Sky Sports': "I apologised to Unai Emery for not shaking his hand. I was looking for him and I didn't see him. I then ran to my players."
In a gesture of good will to his new home fans, Hasenhuttl issued free beer vouchers to all season ticket holders, which proved fruitful, as the home support roared the 'Saints' on to three valuable points.
The manager praised the atmosphere after the match, saying: "The atmosphere after the game gave me goosebumps. It was an unbelievable moment to celebrate with the crowd and the team. They put everything on the pitch, we deserved it."
He concluded: "Everyone saw today the ways we have to go. We have to stay committed and stay together. The way they worked together today was fantastic, without this we wouldn't have got the chances against Arsenal. I think when you invest a lot, you earn your rewards. We earnt more than the three points today - we got the respect of our crowd."
