Rangers' Andy Halliday was furious with his first-half substitution and launched a string of profanities at coach Graeme Murty.

Rangers were trailing 2-0 heading into half-time, when manager Graeme Murty substituted Halliday just five minutes before the whistle, a decision the midfielder did not take kindly to.

Halliday was visibly fuming with Murty's call, and was seen shouting expletives in the direction of his coach, before defender Bruno Alves stepped in to calm him down.

Speaking to 'Sky Sports' after the match, Murty claimed to have been oblivious to Halliday's outburst: ''I don't know what's happened [with Halliday]. Of course he’s frustrated to come off before half-time but I’ll speak to him in the week about the matter. I’m not sure what’s been said''

However, former Celtic midfielder Kris Commons criticised the decision being made on the pitch, he said: ''Try and do [the substitution] in the changing room because it doesn't look good.''

He added: ''You always want to make an impact as a player in these games and [Halliday] wears his heart on his sleeve. He's a huge Rangers fan but I think he's been a scapegoat today.''

Celtic went on to knock Rangers out of the Scottish Cup by scoring two penalty goals in the second half to claim a 4-0 victory, progressing to the cup final on May 19.
