Haller to return to group training in January after two operations

Sebastian Haller joined Borussia Dortmund from Ajax to replace Erling Haaland, but his medical revealed that he had a malignant tumour in his testicles. Since then, he has had to stop playing football, have two operations and undergo chemotherapy. Now in January, he could return to group training. 

'Bild' revealed that that is when he could be back at Dortmund's training ground with his teammates. For now, the striker has just trained individually. In fact, he was seen in Amsterdam where his former club allowed him to train so he could keep fit. He could well play before the end of the current season. 

You have to remember that the footballer, before his health problem, was doing superbly in the Eredivisie. In the 2021-22 season, he scored 34 goals in 42 matches and he started 40 of those. Those stats led to him making the move to Signal Iduna Park to replace Haaland, who had gone to Man City. All eyes are now on whether he will be the same player he was once he returns. 

The good news for Dortmund is that he has a contract at the club until 2025, so they have time to decide on his future. This season is all about recovering from his malignant tumour. Then, he should be 100% for the 2023-24 campaign.
