Haaland, the key to Pogba's signing for Madrid

Paul Pogba has long been on Zinedine Zidane's wish list, and he's shown he is open to the transfer, but Manchester United are not keen on letting their crown jewel escape. However, according to the Daily Star, Erling Haaland could be the key to unlocking the operation.

Paul Pogba's links to Real Madrid started even before he joined Manchester United from Juventus. In the last couple of months, the mutual praise between Zinedine Zidane and the Frenchman had fueled the rumours, but Manchester United has always closed the doors on any potential exit.

The player is currently injured, and there were some rumours about the seriousness of it all, with some claiming he could be extending it in order to force his exit, but Pobga vehemently denied it. However, it is a well-known fact that Paul Pogba has wanted to leave Manchester United for a while.

The story goes back a long way and now 'Daily Star' adds a new chapter. The British newspaper says there is a key that could bring Paul Pogba closer to Real Madrid and this is Erling Haaland, RB Salzburg striker for whom Solskjaer has asked for this winter transfer market

Daily Star' points out that if Haaland signs for United, the Mancunians would be willing to let Pogba go. Not at any price, of course, but Mino Raiola, who is in charge of Danish and French affairs, seems to be a key figure in this operation.

The intervention of the Italian representative would serve to activate the airlift between Salzburg and Manchester ... as long as the Red Devils let Pogba leave and join Real Madrid.

Solskjaer has been very vocal about his wish to keep Pogba around, frequently mentioning him and his current injury. He should be available for the Manchester derby this Saturday, but the Frenchman's departure is closer to happening every day, and with the winter transfer market around the corner, who knows where he will be by the time January ends.
