Good news for Man City or at least that is what Pep Guardiola seemed to suggest in the press conference. The man from Santpedor said this Friday that he will have everyone available for the Champions League second leg tie with Real Madrid. That includes Sergio Aguero.
City will go into the match with a 1-2 lead after winning by that scoreline at the Bernabeu. They will face Real Madrid on 7th August at the Etihad Stadium. That will be just one month after the Argentinian striker's knee operation.
Guardiola was asked about the possible presence of one of his academy players in the knockout tie. However, the City coach decided to mentioned about Aguero.
"It's the first week Jayden Braff has been training with us. He's young and he must be patient. He has incredible skill, but there are another six or seven players in the team that play in his position. With luck, they're all going to be available to play against Real Madrid apart from Mendy who's suspended," the coach continued.
Those comments were surprising. Kun underwent an operation on 24th June after suffering an injury to his knee in the 5-0 victory over Burnley exactly a month ago. The Argentine was treated by Dr Cougat in Barcelona with the ambition of being ready for the Champions League.
The operation was successful and judging by Guardiola's comments, Aguero's recovery is going swimmingly and there is optimism at City that the striker could be back for the Madrid game. He has scored 23 goals in 32 games.
During his press conference, Guardiola admitted that he is now thinking about the Champions League despite them having one league game left. He said that "every day, every training session will be a test to see which players are most prepared" for the Real Madrid encounter.
