As AEK Athens and Dutch side Ajax prepared to face off in Champions League action on Tuesday night, attentions quickly turned to crowd trouble both inside and outside of the stadium.
Riot Police worked hard to disperse home fans who threw plastic missiles and other objects at visiting Ajax fans.
No immediate injuries or casualties were reported, but given the scale of the issue, more reports are no doubt forthcoming.

In shocking video footage of the scenes inside the Olympic Stadium in Athens, the home fans can be clearly seen throwing petrol bombs and flares towards the away section of the ground.
The aforementioned petrol bombs were seen exploding in the midst of the away supporters, as people fleed to escape the flames.
While further images of the events taken by members of the assembled media, show various supporters from both clubs can be seen covered in blood after clashing with the authorities.

It was also noted that Police clashed with fans in the days leading up to the match; police made arrests for violent behaviour from mainly Athens fans in the city centre on late Monday and early Tuesday.
Authorities managed to control the chaos just in time for kick off to take place as planned, although further firecrackers could be heard exploding immediately after the start of the second half.
Ajax headed into the match knowing that a win would see them advance to the knockut stages of the competition, while AEK are already eliminated after falling to defeat in their four opening games of the group stage.
