Dortmund's emphatic 4-0 victory at home to Atletico Madrid has given Mario Gotze reasons to be cheerful.
The world cup winner was back in the team and starred in the club's victory. "We can be happy and satisfied today", he told the club's website after the game.
We couldn't have imagined it going any better. We all attacked and defended together and our teamwork set us apart.
"We were extremely varied up front, we moved well in the spaces and scored at important times in the game. We want to take this momentum with us now."
A brace from Guerreiro and goals from Sancho and Witsel were enough to give DVB all three points, which pleased Marco Reus.
"We suffered a lot today. Atlético really picked up the pace in the second half. We managed to survive that", the Dortmund captain said.
It was a brutal evening for us, but the way we did it was great. Everyone was challenged defensively, we just stayed calm and scored the goals. We had a lot of space at the back. Atlético were respectful and we are extremely happy.
