Metin Albayrak, a spokesman for Turkish champions Besiktas has revealed that both Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund are in "serious talks" with the striker, but still hopes that Gomez will rejoin Besiktas.
The German forward spent last season on loan at the Turkish club from Fiorentina where he scored 28 goals in 41 appearances.
"Our fans are feel hopeful about Mario Gomez returning,” he told 'Dogan News Agency'.
However, Albayrak admitted that it would be a tough task to compete with the Spanish and German giants.
"We're monitoring his situation closely but we know that he is in serious talks with Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund. Obviously he is difficult for us".
Meanwhile, West Ham were also linked with Gomez, but the spokesman claimed that the east London club were not interested in the Fiorentina striker.
"I spoke with Slaven Bilic on the phone this morning. He said that they're not interested with Mario Gomez," he said.
