On 29th October 1994, Raúl Gonzalez became the youngest ever player to represent the senior side of Real Madrid CF, and subsequently went on to become one of the best, if not the best, centre forward in the history of the club.
A home grown talent; Raúl was born in the city of Madrid, and although he had a stint with arch rivals Atléitco during his youth career, he would eventually decide to wear the famous white shirt of Real.
Perhaps only coincidental that Raúl's full surname, Gonzalez Blanco, contains the nickname of Madrid ('Los Blancos), the player would go on to captain the club, becoming a legend in the process.
Raúl was not only a great goalscorer, he epitomised the word 'leader', donning the armband for club and country during his time in the Spanish capital, which earned him the nickname 'El Capitan'.
The Spaniard scored 228 goals in 550 appearances for Real Madrid, winning three Champions League titles and six La Liga crowns, among many other honours during his time at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Raúl's on field exploits, goal scoring or otherwise, made the number 7 he wore iconic; albeit if his successor Cristiano Ronaldo would usurp him as the most successsful player to wear that particular shirt.
Nevertheless, Raúl will remain a legend and an icon in the eyes of all Madrid supporters for the remainder of time.
In fact, in light of the setting of an unwanted record by 'Los Blancos' strikers this season; a 481 minute goal drought, it would be a fair bet to argue that many Madrid fans would trade anything to have a prime condition Raúl in their attacking lineup.
Sadly for the 'Merengue' dugout, and the under pressure manager Julen Lopetegui, there is no such thing as a time machine.
Therefore, although one never loses their capabilities, the now 41 year old Raúl would be well off the pace in today's frantic football atmosphere.
Then again, given the chaotic backdrop of proceedings at Madrid at present, almost any player would struggle to revive the fortunes of the team...
