The 'The Sun' reported that there was interest in the world's richest football club from Sadia Arabia, however it is understood that ownership of the 'Red Devils' will not change hands.
Mohammad bin Salman, who is the crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, reportedly wants to take on the Abu Dhabi-based owners of Man City by buying neighbours United off the Glazer family.
It was reported that the Crown Prince wants to make his own mark in the global world of football, and sees United as the perfect club with which to do this.
Despite the interest, it is understood that United's the American owners have no wish to sell a club they bought in 2005 for £790m, even though United are now valued at between £3bn and £4bn.
The Glazers sold two per cent of the club's shares with limited voting rights in August last year, and may be interested in selling more to the Saudis, however they are unlikely to sanction any deal that would dilute their ownership and control of United.
Forbes listed Manchester United as the richest football club in the world, boasting an operating income of $350 million. They are also the second richest sports team in the world, behind Dallas Cowboys - according to Forbes.
