The Liverpool legend has already made seven signings since taking the reins at Ibrox in June, but speaking following a 6-0 friendly win over Bury on Friday, Gerrard insisted he was keen for more incomings.
Sadiq is one name that has been heavily linked with the 'Gers' of late and Gerrard admitted that he is one player he is hoping to add to his squad.
"At the moment he is still a Roma player but it has been well documented that I am a fan, but it's just a case of watch this space," he admitted.
When asked about other business, Gerrard said: "It is difficult to say whether it will be done before the first leg [of Europa League qualifying on Thursday], but we will be doing more business."
Finally, the 38-year-old also gave an insight into the goalkeeping situation at the club, all but admitting that one of Jak Alnwick or Wes Foderingham is likely to leave the club following Allan McGregor's return to the club this summer and with the continued development of young Robby McCrory.
"I don't have a number one or number two or three, I have three excellent goalkeepers with decent experience," he explained.
"I thought it was very decent to get Robby a feel of the atmosphere because he's got a bright future.
"I have three fantastic goalkeepers but somewhere down the line one of them is not going to be happy, and there is nothing I can do about that.
"At some point one of them won't be around because three top goalies don't go and I will have to make a difficult decision."
