Gavi 'proud' of Barcelona despite Dortmund defeat

Barcelona survived a scare at Signal Iduna Park after a 3-1 loss to Dortmund almost cost them qualification to the Champions League semifinals, which they achieved thanks to a four-goal lead from the first leg. 

Gavi, who started against the German team, assured that they knew it was not going to be easy but they had to keep the positives. The Spanish midfielder said it was an "achievement" to have reached the semifinals for the first time in six years.

"It wasn't easy. We fought until the end, and that was what mattered. After all these years, we're very happy. There's a positive outlook, but reaching the semi-finals after six years is an achievement," he said.

When asked if it is sometimes necessary to suffer to achieve great things, Gavi answered: "That's true. That's why knockout matches are played over two legs. Fortunately we scored four goals at home. We knew it would be more difficult here. I'm very happy with everyone's work ethic."

"Nobody said it was easy. I'm proud of the team, we're in the semis and I'm very happy to have started today. The coach trusts me a lot," he concluded.
