Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw at the Emirates, as Alexandre Lacazette scored a late equaliser for Arsenal, which saw the 'Reds' drop off the pace at the top of the table.
With the game goalless, Mané pounced on a rebound to slot home what he thought was the opening goal of the contest. However, the goal was ruled out for offside.
While it was true that Mané had indeed been offside for the first phase of play, when teammate Roberto Firmino received the ball, the Senegalese was stood behind Firmino when he fired at goal, and so in reality, the goal should have been allowed.
Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher gave his take on the incident for 'Sky Sports' stating: "Mane's goal should have stood. Although he was in an offside position he doesn't impact because Firmino goes for the ball. When Firmino plays the ball he's behind him, so even though the ball comes back off the post, the last Liverpool player to play the ball was Firmino so Mane was entitled to follow up and score.
Gallagher concluded: "Because the assistant was caught on the first ball he's out of position and cannot then judge the position of the Liverpool players."
