Ajax have warned that no matter what Barcelona offer in January he will not be leaving. Hereby issuing a hands off warning to prevent the Catalan giants from coming in for the promising midfielder.
Despite an apparent understanding between the clubs that De Jong will leave for the right price next summer, Barcelona have pushed their interest forward, with fears developing that Tottenham could offer a large fee for De Jong in January.
A report in the 'Daily Mail' claims that Tottenham have had a 45 million pound bid rejected by the Amsterdam giants already.
However it appears both clubs will be disappointed. Former Arsenal winger Overmars told Spanish publication 'AS':''Barcelona can return in January if they want, but no player will leave.''
At 21 De Jong has time on his side and the player is in no rush to go to one of the world's leading clubs before he is ready, in the summer he said ''Maybe someday I'll join Barcelona, but not this season. I'm staying at Ajax. I think it will be good to spend at least another full season here [at Ajax].''
It is understood that PSG, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Roma and Borussia Dortmund are all keeping tabs on the Dutch international.
