In the summer of 2003, just after selling David Beckham to Real Madrid, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was on the look-out for a big-name star to replace to England legend. The man he had his eye on was a certain Ronaldinho, United made a bid and helds talks with the player, however, as we all know, he opted to join Barcelona and the rest, as they say, is history. Former United defender Quinton Fortune has a pretty unique theory as to why United failed to get their man.
In an interview with the club's official website Fortune said "I think we got it wrong by bringing Ronaldinho in at the wrong time of year as it was raining that day he arrived at Manchester Airport."
The South African defender went on to claim that "if we'd timed it weith the right day, it could have been a different story."
There you have it, Manchester's climate strikes again.
