Former Madrid teammates Ramos and James reunited as Monterrey beat Leon

The Mexican League was looking forward to this face-to-face meeting between Sergio Ramos and James Rodriguez, former Real Madrid teammates. Now, one wears the shirt of Monterrey and the other, that of Leon. Both are captains of their respective teams as a sign of the leadership that both have exercised since their arrival in Mexican football. As a result, the initial photo at the pitch draw quickly went viral.
During the match, the story was quite different. Iker Fimbres gave Rayados the lead early in the match and Deossa doubled the lead for his side at the start of the second half. Trailing 0-2 on this final day of the Clausura regular phase and with both teams assured of advancing to the next phase - with Ramos' side having one more round to play - the match began to heat up.
James Rodriguez was about to receive a ball in a second half move, precisely with Sergio Ramos, but the Sevillian anticipated and touched the ball. The Colombian protested to the referee for not pointing out the foul and saw a first yellow card for protesting. The Leon player did not calm down, continued in that argument and earned a second caution for the same reason.
With his sending off, James Rodriguez will be a guaranteed absentee for Leon for the first leg of the quarter-final against Cruz Azul on the road to the Mexican Clausura title.
