Cristiano Ronaldo is a free agent. After two seasons back at Man Utd, his relationship with the club became unsustainable because of poor results and also because of the interview he gave to Piers Morgan. He stated that he felt "betrayed" and that led to his contract being terminated "by mutual agreement." Now Flamengo have appeared as a possible new destination for the Portuguese.
The information from Brazilian newspaper 'Veja' is that the club's big wigs have consulted their main investors about the possibility of making an offer for the Portuguese. Four months ago, president Marcos Braz warned that signing the number 7 was unthinkable although he said this after admitting that he would like to have him in his ranks. It is understood that he is trying to make it possible.
Seeing Ronaldo end up in the Brazilian league would be interesting and if he were to join Flamengo, he would face Real Madrid in the Club World Cup. It would be quite interesting to see him play against a club he has always spoken positively about. He was delighted by how well he was treated in probably the most important stage of his career.
Whether Cristiano Ronaldo is happy to join Flamengo remains up in the air. In his controversial interview with Piers Morgan, he seemed ambitious and keen to fight for the most important trophies in world football. Flamengo are one of the clubs with most trophies in South America and a big club in Brazil, but the Portuguese would miss out on the chance to win trophies like the Champions League.
