"He knows he could have done better with the goal, there's no reason to hide it. But no one should point the finger at him because he has saved us many times," his coach defended.
But despite Solskjaer's words, De Gea has been in the spotlight for some time, and his contract with United expires in June 2020. The continuity of David de Gea in the English team is not at all clear and possible replacements for the Spanish international are already being discussed,
The Sun' anticipates five possible names to occupy his place under the post in case of a departure.
Among the possible replacements are Oblak, Donnarumma, Courtois, Cillessen and Butland. However, many of them seem to be very complicated deals, as is the case especially for Oblak who has just renewed with Atletico.
Less difficult would be the option for Cillessen to pack his bags at Barcelona. "I'll go on holiday first and I hope there's a new club where I can play, because I want to play," the keeper declared a few days ago.
Butland is on many teams' agendas, so that could well be a difficult deal to come through on.
The Italian goalkeeper also has several teams knocking on his door. Bayern and Atletico are among the teams following him.
