Liverpool had had the majority of the ball early in the contest, but had not been able to get a clear-cut chance on goal as of yet.
Thanks to their characteristic high press, the 'Reds' were able to win the ball back and then quickly get it to Xherdan Shaqiri.
The Swiss international played a perfect through ball down the left flank to Andy Robertson, who squared the ball to Roberto Firmino waiting in the box.
Firmino managed to drop his shoulder and then fire a left-footed shot in to the centre of the goal, aided by a deflection from the divinig defenders, to give the home side the lead on 20 minutes.
