Infantino confirmed that New York's Times Square will host a series of performances during the final weekend of the tournament. The title match, scheduled for July 19 at the New York-New Jersey stadium, will include a halftime show for the first time in the history of the competition.
The FIFA president shared the announcement on Instagram after attending a convention with commercial partners and sponsors in Dallas, ahead of the organization's Council meeting this Wednesday.
"This will be a historic moment for the World Cup and the biggest sporting event in the world. There will be two incredible matches with some of the best players, and what better way to celebrate than in the iconic Times Square in New York," Infantino wrote.
He also expressed gratitude to Coldplay's Chris Martin and Phil Harvey for helping finalise the list of artists who will perform both at the final and in the city square. Infantino aims to replicate the halftime concert tradition of the NFL's Super Bowl, where global music stars regularly perform.
