When football will return is far from clear. It all depends on how the coronavirus situation develops across the world. As a result, FIFA, in coordination with all the confederations, are thinking of taking measures which would not just affect this year.
According to 'AS', FIFA are considering postponing all international fixtures and not play again until next year. By that time, normality should be restored.
This year, friendly matches have been postponed as well as Euro 2020, Copa America, the second edition of the UEFA Nations League and South American World Cup qualifying.
The number of World Cup qualifying matches will be reduced and it will be a much tighter schedule, the FIFA vice-president said.
"There is a risk, especially between the matches between countries means international travel," Victor Montagliani told 'AP'.
Gianni Infantino, the FIFA president, reiterated Montagliani's comments and insists that they will not be able to play until people's safety is guaranteed. In the meantime, meetings continue and on Thursday 23rd April, the UEFA Executive Committee will meet to discuss the calendar for domestic leagues and European competitions. International football will have to wait.
