Ferran gives Barca the lead just before half-time

Barcelona are looking to take a big step towards lifting the La Liga title. The 'Cules' host Atletico Madrid in the Camp Nou, eight points clear of Real Madrid after the 'Merengues' claimed a 2-0 win against Celta.

Third-placed Atletico were also looking to take all three points away as a win would put them two points behind second-placed Madrid. However, the 'Colchoneros' were unlucky after they came within inches of taking the lead in the first play of the game. Thanks to good high pressing Lemar stole the ball from Busquets, the ball fell to Correa and the Argentinian fed Griezmann on the edge of the box. However, France's shot from 22 yards hit the crossbar.

Both teams continued to create chances during the first half but it was the Catalan giants who were more effective. In the 45th minute and just seconds before the break, Raphinha cushioned the ball down on the left flank and fed Ferran Torres on the edge of the box. The Spaniard beat Oblak with a lovely low shot to the far post from the D.

The former Man City man has made 38 appearances for Barcelona this season, starting 15 of them. In addition, the Spaniard has scored six goals and provided two assists in total so far this season.
