When people think of the name Ferdinand, the first name to spring to mind might be Rio or Les, but not Anton in most cases.
Older brother Rio Ferdinand is one of the best defenders that England has ever produced, having won six Premier League titles and the Champions League during his time at Man Utd, as well as over 80 England caps.
While he has had a good career for a professional, his younger brother Anton has not had anywhere near that level of success.
Appearances for West Ham and QPR in the Premier League proved that the 'other' Ferdinand was a good defender in his own right, but he has admitted that he found it difficult to step out of the shadow of his brother.
"Seeing him do it and what comes with being a professional footballer, I wanted it all for myself" the defender to the 'BBC'.
"People would say, oh that's Rios' brother, let's see what he's got', "But if I didn't do something within the first five minutes that likened me to Rio, I was rubbish - because he was the best.
"He gave me advice. He wanted me to be better than him. He knew the pressure I was under. It made him proud that I was able to deliver when I needed to
"I should have played for England. I know I should have. I just wasn't consistent enough
"Rio was the best in the world at the time I was coming through. To come out of the shadow of someone who is the best in your position, it is a big thing."
Now at St Mirren in Scotland, he is hoping to prove that he can still perform at the age of 33.
