Ferdinand lamented the mistreatment Zaha suffered at the hands of Moyes

Wilfried Zaha himself suffered during the 2013-14 season at Manchester United from the consequences of his alleged 'close friendship' with David Moyes' daughter, even though the player himself admitted he did not know her.
This rumour cost him that Moyes ignored him in the team, something that the former Man United star Rio Ferdinand spoke about in a statement to 'The Mirror'.
Ferdinand regretted not having helped Zaha when the two shared a dressing room at Old Trafford: "I should have done more to help Zaha, who was affected by her behaviour off the pitch. "
"As a top player at the time, I should have done more to help the new talent," admitted one Ferdinand who blamed himself for not helping the current Crystal Palace player, after accusing the club of "abuse".
The former player spoke to Zaha in The Locker Room, where the 27-year-old said: "Nobody at the club told me anything, I didn't know what to do. "
"The funny thing is that it went on for so long that I felt the manager wasn't going to come and talk to me about it. To this day, I still meet people who think it was true," he said.
