FC Barcelona could have signed Koulibaly for only 25 million

FC Barcelona have always been clear that this transfer window it was essential to bring in a top level centre-back. In fact, the 'Cules' had the signing of Koulibaly very advanced. 

The Senegalese player was willing to push as hard as he could to end up in Xavi Hernandez's squad and that the transfer would not cost more than 25 million euros.  

Koulibaly got tired of waiting and signed for Chelsea. The price the English side had to pay was 40 million euros. This price was more in line with Napoli's demands in order to be able to go to the market later.

FC Barcelona had many doubts about whether to undertake the operation. However, the 'Cules' opted to make Kounde their first choice, with the Senegalese player relegated to second place in their defensive planning. Xavi has been insisting for some time on the arrival of the Sevilla FC centre-back, even though his price is considerably higher than the price they had on the table for Koulibaly.
