The transfer market is just around the corner. Fabian is one of the footballers who is looking like being one of the protagonists. Real Madrid are following him very closely.
Alvaro Torres, the footballer's agent, explained that Napoli want to renew Fabian, but that negotiations have been halted for a while.
"We decided to leave Fabian's contract renewal until the end of the season. There will not be new conversations until the competitions finish which we don't know when it will be. That said, he is 100% focussed on Napoli," Torres explained.
And he admitted that there are clubs interested although he did not name any of them. "It's normal for big European clubs to ask and show interest. He's been playing very well for three years, he has got himself a spot as a starter for Spain, something which is not at all easy with the competition that there is. He was also the best player at the Euro Under-21 Championships. It would be strange if no one showed interest," he said.
It is not the first time Alvaro Torres talks about the interest Fabian has aroused in big clubs. "Real Madrid? We've never spoken about a club in particular," he said recently in another interview.
Napoli are aware of the long list of suitors for Fabian: "We have let his club know about it directly through 'You First Italia' with Miguel Alfaro."
Alvaro Torres highlighted Fabian's evolution. "He has been improving his game under every coach he has had. He was very much at ease under Ancelotti and last season was magnificent, as we know. With the arrival of Gattuso, he has started to be used as a number 6, although the team are lacking a bit of a physical element to it. Then Fabian was given more freedom, he reached the opposition area more and that is the position he plays best in," he opined.
At the moment, there are still question marks over Fabian's future. Real Madrid are insisting on getting him and Napoli will ask for a very large amount of money in order to sell the Spaniard.
