The Leicester and England star was sent off in the first half of Leicester's 2-2 draw at Stoke for a two-footed lunge on Stoke forward Mame Diouf.
Vardy won the ball, but also caught the player, and to the anger of the Leicester players, Vardy was given his marching orders.
The Foxes decided to appeal the red card, but the decision was not overturned by the FA and the player will now serve a three-match suspension.
Vardy will therefore miss the clashes against Everton (26 December), West Ham (31 December) and Middlesbrough (2 January).
