Life takes many twists and turns and can reunite people after years apart. That will be the case for Enzo Maresca and Willy Caballero at Leicester City, who compete in the Championship after the dramatic and unexpected relegation from the Premier League.
The Foxes made it official on Sunday that the Argentinian will be part of the Maresca's coaching staff, who takes over from Brendan Rodgers at the King Power Stadium.
Both former players were in the historic Malaga side in 2012 that overcame Panathinaikos in the Champions League qualifiers, which meant the Spanish side qualified for Europe's biggest competition.
Although the former midfielder called time on his chapter in Malaga after the match against the Greek side, Cabllero stayed on until 2014. He then made the move to the Premier League, joining Man City for three seasons, before heading down south to Chelsea for four years.
Now a decade after he last played with his former teammate, the two will swap boots and gloves for the blackboard and the dugout. Enzo Maresca will take the lead and Willy Caballero will work as assistant manager. The team that won the Premier League in 2016 has the ambition to return to the top of English football a year after the darkest chapter of its recent history.
