This game was a battle of two Portuguese managers who know each other well, emphasis on the word battle.
Wolves started out buoyantly as they rose to the occasion of playing in their first home Premier League match since May 2012 to take the game to the opposition.
Despite their initial positivity, the home side could not make the most of the bright play and found themselves behind against the run of play, when new signing Richarlison stabbed in from a free-kick to give his side the lead.
Everton looked to be in control after that, passing the ball around comfortably, however just before half time that all changed.
Centre-back Phil Jagielka miscontrolled the ball, and with Jota running on to the ball he lunged in to try and stop the forward from being in on goal. While it was rash and studs were studded, Everton fans will feel that his dismissal was harsh.
Wolves immediately took advantage of the situation, as spectacular goals specialist Ruben Neves added another to his catalogue by smashing a free-kick in to the top corner, the free-kick awarded because of Jagielka's challenge.
The second half looked like it would be a very difficult task for Marco Silva's men but they dug in and stopped Wolves from getting any clear-cut chances.
However, Richarlison showed his eye for goal again. The debutant picked up the ball on the edge of the box and drove towards goal, before impressively slotting the ball in to the bottom right corner of the goal.
Everton seemed as though they were on the way to an unlikely victory, as they defended resolutely in the remainder of the match and stayed disciplined.
7 minutes from the end of the 90, Neves again proved the difference as he swung in a ball to find his compatriot Jimenez in the Everton box. His header was expertly taken and left Jordan Pickford with no chance of keeping it out.
Both sides will take positives from the game, as Wolves managed to come from behind twice whereas the 'Toffees' managed to hold out for a point despite being a man down for 45 minutes. Not that Marco Silva will be happy with that decision regardless.
