Ozil was absent from the Arsenal match day squad for the North London derby on Sunday, but his manager would not be drawn on the condition of the player after the match.
A message on the club's social media page, it was explained that Ozil had 'suffered a back spasm' in training and that was why he was not fit to face the club's arch rivals.
The German was named on the bench for the 2-1 win over Bournemouth last weekend, and did not once take to the touchline to warm up during the Premier League match. Emery insisted that he left the midfielder out due to the expected physicality of the match.
In his post-match press conference on Sunday, asked if Ozil could have played against Tottenham, Emery said: "He has back ache."

Then, when pressed on how he sustained the injury, Emery responded: "I don't know." Emery then repeated this response when further pressed on if Ozil attended the match to support his teammates.
Arsenal's next task is an away trip to Old Trafford In the Premier League on Wednesday night. They currently sit 4th in the table, eight points off leaders Manchester City.
