Emerson catches Barcelona's eye

Emerson is shining brighter than expected at Betis and his skills have once again drawn the attention of Barcelona, who could enforce the clause they have on the Brazilian this summer and pay between nine and 12 million euros.

In January 2019, Barcelona managed to get ahead of clubs such as Arsenal and Chelsea and Emerson arrived in Europe with a promising future ahead of him. So far, he has exceeded expectations.

Emerson has silenced all those who said he was struggling to adapt to life in Spain by proving his quality and proficiency offensively, becoming a usual starter, and even scoring a few goals, such as the equaliser in Mendizorroza.

At almost 21 years old, Emerson has made Barcelona fall in love all over again, and the Catalans could call him up ahead of time - it was planned for 2021 - and pay Betis a transfer of between nine and 12 million euros, as 'AS' reports.

It should be remembered that Betis have half of the player's rights, as they paid half of the 12 million that it cost to sign Emerson from South America. If he does make the move in the summer of 2021, the club would only have to pay six million euros for the Brazilian.

Not bad for a full-back who is proving he is worth every single penny with his performances. Therefore, the young Brazilian could arrive at Barcelona in July and become the most offensive right-back in the Camp Nou since Dani Alves, another Brazilian. Since Alves' departure, the gap in that position has been considerable and the doubts generated by his replacement have generated rumours of possible additions.

Lukas Klostermann was also linked to Barcelona recently. He plays for RB Leipzig and his clause reaches 35 million. But Emerson seems to have overtaken him in the race to work alongside Lionel Messi. In any case, the signing of a wingback would cause the departure of Semedo, who has not had the most convicing run.
