Cousin to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, young Liverpool player Bobby Duncan is said to be on the radar of Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund, following the astonishing success that has followed Jadon Sancho's move to Germany.
Sancho has so far recorded 2 goals and 8 asissts in only 8 appearances so far for Dortmund, and so the club are keen to replicate his success by once again fishing in the pools of talent in the Premier League's elite academies.
The German outfit have already earmarked three possible candidates from within the English youth system, whom they consider to be good enough to make the step up to first team football in the German top flight.
Prime candidate is Liverpool's Bobby Duncan; previously of Manchester City's youth academy until he moved back to Merseyside this summer, he has recently made the step up to training with the first team squad at Anfield, which has sparked interest from various foreign clubs including Dortmund.
The youngster has made a big impact since his arrival at Liverpool; scoring six goals and notching three assists in just seven U18 Premier League games for his side.
Duncan only signed a three year deal in August, and so should Dortmund want to pry him away from the 'Reds', they will surely have to stump up a fee similar to what they paid City for Sancho in the summer, close to £10 million.
However, should Dortmund fail to sign the promising youngster, they have already identified two alternative candidates in their search for the world's next best talent.
First Manchester City's Phil Foden. Considered to be one of the best upcoming midfield talents on the continent, it is no wonder that Pep Guardiola is keen to keep him with the club's senior squad, so he can learn his trade from world class teammates Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva.
Foden's current deal with the Premier League champions is due to expire in 2020, and if the club aren't careful, they could find themselves in a similar situation to the one they faced with Sancho this summer. Although Foden's passion for his boyhood club should prevent such issues arising.
The third candidate is Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi, after having an impressive pre-season for the Stamford Bridge club.
The 'Blues' notoriously have a bad reputation for channelling academy prospects into the senior team, and so if Dortmund fail to land either Duncan or Foden, they could make the most of Hudson-Odoi's lack of first team opportunities in London, by offering him a chance to play in Germany.
However this may not be so straightforward for Dortmund, as should the youngster decide to leave Chelsea, they face a transfer war with Thierry Henry's Monaco, who also rate the teenager very highly indeed.
