Manchester United are still coming to terms with Jose Mourinho's new ideas, while Borussia Dortmund's side are gelling together superbly on the judgement of today's International Champions Cup match.
4-1 means nothing in pre-season, but the feeling between the two camps could not be more different. Dortmund continued to show their prowess in attack, whereas Manchester United proved that they still need to strengthen if they are to achieve something special this year.
Dortmund were the better team from the word go and took a deserved 2-0 lead thanks to the goals of Gonzalo Castro and Aubameyang. The first goal came from Castro's bundled finish and the second saw Aubameyang's spot kick converted after Antonio Valencia had handballed in the box.
In the second half, Dortmund's threat got even bigger. Despite making changes, Manchester United hardly looked like clawing a goal back and the German side continued to penetrate the United defence. Then came Dembele's wondergoal. The 19-year-old controlled the ball 40 metres from the area, eased past Luke Shaw before skinning Marcos Rojo and lashed the ball home past Sergio Romero to make it 3-0.
Manchester United then found some consolation, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan scoring a tap-in after being set up by Spaniard Juan Mata. However, a goal still did not wake Manchester United up and Gonzalo Castro added insult to injury for Manchester United as he scored with another great strike late on.
Overall conclusions - Dortmund are looking strong ahead of the upcoming Bundesliga campaign, but for United, a lot of work remains to be done.
