Backroom coaching staff
Emery will have to deal with the loss of several long-standing Arsenal staff members including; Boro Primorac and Gary Lewim. The Spaniard will be implementing his own trusted advisors into his coaching team. Juan Carlos Carcedo will take up the assistant manager role, joined by coach Pablo Villanueva, fitness coach Julen Masach and analyst Victor Manas. However, the candidacy of former Arsenal stars Mikel Arteta, Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira for Wenger's vacancy is important and Arsenal should try and preserve their relationship with ex-players.
Squad switch up
Arsenal's squad are in need of a freshening up. The average age of the starting lineup this season was older than all of the five teams that finished ahead of them in the Premier League. The club is in need of more than just one or two additions, but rather a major overhaul.
Emery is set to have Jack Wilshere on board next season, having nearly finalised negotiations on his contract renewal but it is Aaron Ramsey that could pose a problem. With the midfielder's contract due to expire and not having featured in the new kit promotional video, he could be parting ways with the north London club. On one hand, selling the 27-year-old could add to Arsenal's very modest £50m transfer fund but on the other, Ramsey is likely to feature heavily in Emery's plans meaning that they would need to secure his signature to continue as soon as possible.
The Spaniard's role in signing players is not yet entirely clear. The Gunners have a head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat and head of football relations Raul Sanllehi to oversee the transfer of players. The pair are already responsible for bringing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan over to the Emirates Stadium and will likely be seeking to bring the squad average age down with fresh, new talent.
Youth development
Chief executive Ivan Gazidis was clear that Wenger's successor would need to continue Arsenal's strong track record of bringing up players through the youth ranks. Emery will not be short of good players in The Gunners' academy, with the likes of Konstantinos Mavropanos, Joe Willock, Eddie Nkhetiah and Ainsley Maitland-Niles all likely to feature in Arsenal's plans next season to some extent.
Upping Arsenal's game
Emery will be charged with improving away results for the club first and foremost. Arsenal have suffered dismal away game form this season, having lost seven consecutive Premier League away games in 2018.
However Gazidis is confident that the Spaniard will be a great addition to the club. He told 'Sky Sports': ''Unai plays an exciting, progressive style of football that fits Arsenal perfectly.''
