France were losing against Hungry and Deschamps had to do something from the bench. The French dominated the first half, but suddenly found themselves a goal down just before the break, leaving the manager no choice but turn to Dembele in the second period.
The Barcelona man come in for Rabiot after 57 minutes and soon became France's best man on the pitch. Barely two minutes after coming on he struck the post with a fine individual effort, before showing good movement and posing a constant threat to Hungary. Whilst he was on the pitch, France were able to equalise.
But the 'Mosquito' effect didn't last the whole match. In the 87th minute, Deschamps had to bring him off, with the winger's face showing signs of discomfort. France and Barca fans everywhere filled with dread and, with his injury history, they did so for good reason.
Dembele could be seen clutching his right quad following a move and made a signal to the bench, where medics were quick to attend to his injury before the decision was made to replace him with Lemar.
