Dembele leading race for top goalscorer in 2025

The top leagues face their first international break in 2025 and also their last ahead of what is set up to be a thrilling end to the 2024/25 campaign. With just months remaining until the champions from each country are crowned, the margin for error gets smaller and smaller.
Week in and week out players are making headlines with standout performances for their clubs and Ousmane Dembele is one that has done so repeatedly over recent weeks. So much so, that he prompted Kylian Mbappe to hail him publicly and insist that belongs among "the best players in the world".
Dembele has simply been unstoppable. The Frenchman has already netted 30 goals in 37 appearances - an average of 0.81 per match - for Paris Saint-Germain this season, providing also 7 assists. It's the best haul of his entire professional career thus far.
Expectedly, he is PSG's top goalscorer in Ligue 1 with 21 goals this term. And what is most remarkable is his consistence. Dembele has scored 16 goals in his last 20 games.
The good news for Dembele does not end there. The 27-year-old has seen his figures increase throughout the start of 2025, reaching a new milestone. He is the top goalscorer of the calendar year so far with 22 goals in 17 appearances - an average of 1.29 per match.
He has surpassed his French compatriot Kylian Mbappe, who counts 17 goals in 20 matches (0.85). If that wasn't enough, he has also overtaken the top goalscorers in England, Spain and Germany in this ranking, even though they all have more goals than him this season.
Robert Lewandowski has 35 goals this term, but only 12 from 16 matches in 2025. The same goes for Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah - both count 32 goals this season but 12 in 2025 - although the Englishman counts 17 games this year as opposed to 16.
With these numbers, Ousmane Dembele, currently enjoying the best period of his career, could become a determining asset to Luis Enrique's Paris Saint-Germain in their quest to claim not only domestic but also European glory by finally conquering the Champions League.
