After being one of the biggest signings of the summer, Matthijs de Ligt is having a difficult time at Juventus.
His international performances with the Netherlands have not been as expected and there are many doubts regarding him, but Maurizio Sarri, Juventus coach, wanted to make it clear that De Ligt is a world-class centre-back.
"I am very convinced that he will become one of the strongest defenders in the world", the coach commented to the media.
The coach himself was put on the spot after giving the Dutchman very few minutes in the last few games. This, together with criticism about his performance seemed to put the former Ajax player in a difficult situation.
However, the Italian coach is more than convinced that De Ligt will end up triumphing at Juventus and excused his player, in full adaptation in Serie A.
"It has been a difficult journey for him because he had to learn a new culture, a new way of playing, a new language on the pitch every day. Therefore his low performance seems normal," he stated.
