De Ligt's Barça doubts
It's not that the 19 year-old has ruled out signing for Barcelona - the Catalan club's proposal is still on his mind. Instead, de Ligt would now be more open to listening to other offers for him as well.
A few weeks ago, de Ligt seemed to be sure that he wanted to follow fellow Ajax youngster Frenkie de Jong to the Camp Nou. Now, however, the defender is not quite so sure.
The Ajax captain reportedly would prefer to be patient and listen to other offers as he tries to ensure that he makes the right decision for his future.
De Ligt is thought to be unsure about the role he would play at Barça, with other centre-backs Gerard Pique, Samuel Umtiti and Clement Lenglet all fighting for two starting spots as it is.
Barcelona want to make it clear that he will be a key part of their future project, but the Dutch international isn't so sure that he would definitely be a starter if he were to swap Amsterdam for Catalonia this summer.
De Ligt is, therefore, in no rush to make a decision. The Eredivisie title is up for grabs this Wednesday, and once the season is over, he intends to sit down with his agent Mino Raiola and talk about his future. De Ligt wants to weigh up all potential offers that will arrive from Europe's biggest clubs, and will make a decision from there.
