Before signing for Juventus, Barcelona did their best to secure the signing of De Ligt with the intention of bringing together two of Ajax's most important players from last season.
In the end, the Dutchman asked for more money and the club decided to step aside, so he finally went with Cristiano Ronaldo's team. However, De Jong said several days ago that his former team-mate might arrive at the Camp Nou in the future, words that caused a stir.
"De Ligt could play at Barça in a short time. The fact that he has gone to Italy does not alter the fact that he will be able to play for Barcelona in a few years. He has made the right decision, he is doing well in Turin," said the midfielder.
But the defender spoke in an interview with Juventus after picking up the Kopa trophy and the first thing he did was respond to De Jong.

"I feel very good in Turin, although it's different. But I hope to stay there much longer," the centre-half said emphatically.
The first few months have been difficult for De Ligt, who's not adapted very quickly and has made mistakes, most notably against Napoli, in a game for which he was harshly criticised, and an own goal against Inter Milan in his debut.
"At Juve I feel happier every day. Being in a club like this can only make you feel honoured and I've always liked it. It's a privilege to wear this shirt," he concluded.
