De Frutos a surprise inclusion in Spain's national team training

The Spanish national team completed their second and final training session at the Ciudad del Futbol, with Pedro Porro and Jorge de Frutos joining the squad. Luis de la Fuente oversaw the session before the team's trip to Sofia, where they will begin their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign against Bulgaria on Thursday.
Jorge de Frutos, who received a late call-up on Monday due to Yeremy Pino's injury, joined the Spanish national team at the Ciudad del Fútbol. On Tuesday morning, he completed his first training session as a full international, joining Pedro Porro, who arrived later due to a family matter.
Having enjoyed the support of the fans during Monday evening's session, where the stands of the Ciudad del Fútbol's main pitch were packed, De la Fuente held a closed training session on Tuesday to prepare the tactical aspects of the first 2026 World Cup qualifying match.
With all his players working at the same intensity, having managed their workloads during the first session, the Spanish manager focused on specific aspects of the game ahead of Thursday's clash with Bulgaria in a session lasting almost an hour and a half.
De la Fuente drafted in Under-21 centre-back Cristhian Mosquera to bolster his squad, keen to assess him within the senior setup. After closely observing all the international players and assessing the fitness of Dani Carvajal and Rodri Hernandez upon their return to the national side following knee injuries, the manager began to shape his starting eleven to face Bulgaria before Sunday's match against Turkey.
The Spanish internationals had lunch at the Ciudad del Fúbol residence before collecting their belongings and heading to Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport. Their charter flight to Sofia is scheduled to depart at 15:30. Spain will conclude their preparations for the match with a final session at 18:00 on Wednesday at the match venue, the Vasil Levski Stadium.
