David Alaba wins Austrian Footballer of the Year for the 10th time

Madrid defender David Alaba was named Austrian Footballer of the Year for the 10th time in his career on Friday, reports Austrian news agency APA. Alaba, 31, currently injured with a ruptured cruciate ligament in his left knee, was voted by the Austrian Bundesliga coaches.
Between 2011 and 2016, he had already been voted 'footballer of the year' six times in a row in the Alpine republic, and now for the fourth time in a row since 2020. With these 10 awards, the 'Madridista' is by far the most successful Austrian footballer in history.
David Alaba, who started out in the youth ranks at Austria Vienna, spent most of his career at Bayern Munich before joining Real Madrid in 2021, where he has so far been a key player in the squad.
Last weekend, he was injured during a La Liga match against Villarreal and, a few days later, underwent surgery in Austria, with the aim - unlikely, according to experts - of being able to play for the Austrian national team at the European Championship, which starts in Germany in June 2024.
