The Brazilian star completed his £65m move to Merseyside on Thursday and was said to be keen to dive straight into action during Liverpool's US tour, despite having player his last competitive game just 13 days previously.
However, Jurgen Klopp has successfully presuaded the former Roma stopper to take the full amount of time available to him to recover from his summer of tournament football and he will thus report for duty during the club's intensive training camp in France rather than in the states.
As such, his first game for the club is expected to come against Napoli in Dublin on August 4, whilst he could also feature three days later when the 'Reds' take on Torino at Anfield.
Speaking after Alisson joined the club, Klopp admitted how keen Samba star had been to get started straight away.
"When I saw him at Melwood, he looked fit," said Klopp. "He is desperate to play. He could have joined us here, he wanted to stay that day (he signed) but it made absolutely no sense. He had a long year. As Brazil No 1, it was quite an intense year!
"The World Cup is not a tournament you only play a little bit. It was intense, so I sent him on holiday again. There will still be two games to play and West Ham is only the first game of the season, not the last one. So we will see.
"When we found there was more of a chance (to sign him), we had to jump on. He is a world class goalkeeper, so we are not going to say 'let’s have a look'. He will play, of course. When Alisson is ready, he will be in our goal. We all need to help him so he can perform as good as possible."
