With the league title all but sealed and knocked out of all other competitions this season, Juventus will return to the drawing board to plan for next season - a task that will involve strengthening Cristiano Ronaldo's supporting cast.

It's all over. In unexpected fashion, Juve are out of the Champions League. There is no shame in exiting Europe's top competition at the quarter-final stage, but nobody predicted what happened in Turin last night - especially after the first leg result. Football once again proved its unpredictable nature and the Old Lady must now look to the future.

Although Juventus are still to celebrate the winning of the 'Scudetto', the truth is that it was effectively won so long ago that it has somewhat lost its excitement. Italy's perennial champions must now learn from their mistakes to improve for next season.

The first ambitious phase of the 'bianconeri' management's masterplan was to bring in Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid. Now, it is time for them to bring in other prestigious names to support the Portuguese talisman.

In their Wednesday edition, 'La Gazetta dello Sport' highlighted three key names as potential targets: João Félix, Federico Chiesa and Matthijs de Ligt.

The young Fiorentina attacker Chiesa has been linked to Juve for some time and is potentially the most likely of the three targets to move to the Allianz Stadium this summer.

In terms of João Félix, the presence of fellow countryman Ronaldo and the strong relationship with superagent Jorge Mendes would be crucial in any attempt to convince Benifca to sell up.

Barcelona's pursuit of de Ligt may complicate matters if Juve do decide to move for the 19 year-old Dutch starlet, as reports today have suggested that the Catalan giants may already have an agreement with Ajax.

Lest we forget that Juve have already been active in the transfer market with next season in mind, with goalscoring Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey set to join the champions elect as well as Genoa defender Cristian Romero.

To make room for the new arrivals, numerous names have been linked with a move away from Turin: Dybala, Pjanic and Douglas Costa perhaps being the most significant.
