Cristiano Ronaldo on Man Utd exit: "I'm a better man"

Cristiano Ronaldo spoke publicly for the first time about his struggling departure from Manchester United. The Portuguese stressed that he went through "a bad career run" but that "it was part of his growth".

 "Sometimes, you have to go through some things to see who is on my side. I have no problem saying, I had a bad career run, but there’s no time for regrets. Life goes on and, doing well or not, it was part of my growth," the '7' commented.

The Al Nassr player also said that he had never been through anything like this before and that is why he considers himself a "better man" today.

"When we are at the top of the mountain, we often cannot see what is below. Now, I’m more prepared and learning that was important, because I had never been through this, like in the last few months. Now I’m a better man," he concluded.

The Portugal international also said he wants to become the most capped player in history. Portugal host Liechtenstein on 23rd March and three days later face Luxembourg.
