"With great sadness and commotion I found out about the terrible and unexpected passing of Jose Antonio Reyes," said the president in a message published on FIFA's website and in which he transmitted his "most sincere condolences" to his family and his loved ones "in such a difficult moment."
The wingrer, who was playing for Extremadura in Segunda, played in the 2006 World Cup in Germany for Spain and died aged 35 in a car accident in the province of Sevilla, where he was from.
Reyes played for Sevilla, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Atletico, Benfica and Espanyol amongst others and this season, he played for Extremadura with whom managed to keep in the second tier of Spanish football.
