Unai Simon was in the headlines for the wrong reasons in an entertaining first half at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen. The Spain keeper made a terrible after powerful pass back by Pedri.
Spain were dominating, but Croatia hit the front after Simon's blunder. However, the pass was hit in line with the goal instead of to the side. Croatia were gifted the lead and neither Simon or Spain could believe it.
The worst thing is that Spain had two clear chances to go ahead. Koke, after a phenomenal assist by Pedri, was denied by Livakovic and Morata did not score with his header.
Croatia were on the back foot, but they were lifted after the own goal. For five or 10 minutes after the goal, Modric and Croatia could have easily made it two.
Spain finally overcame the setback and Pablo Sarabia levelled after a scramble which saw numerous shots blocked and Livakovic make a final save before Sarabia scored.
